The promotion of young sport scientists in Switzerland is an important goal of the Swiss Society of Sport Science (SGS). For this purpose, a Young Investigator Award will be presented at the 9th SGS annual meeting.
To apply for the Young Investigator Award an extended abstract of 1500 words must be submitted (excluding max. 10 references). Please use the abstract template. The first author should not be older than 32 years, should not have been selected for the SGS Young Investigator Award final at a previous meeting, is the first author and has perfromed the work at a Swiss Institution or holds Swiss citizenship. From the applications received, five candidates will be selected by a jury, which covers social and natural sciences. These candidates get the opportunity to give an oral presentation (10 minutes presentation and 10 minutes discussion on Thursday, February 9, 2017, 14:00 - 15:40). The presentation language is exclusively English. The jury will evaluate the relevance of the research to the field of movement and sports, in addition to the scientific quality of the work and the quality of the presentation. The award jury, which is appointed by the SGS board, will assess the abstracts and oral presentations. Please note that applicants not selected to participate in the final will undergo the normal abstract review process, and may be selected for a poster or oral presentation during a regular session (no additional abstract needs to be submitted).
Cash prizes will be awarded (1st place: 750CHF, 2nd place: 500CHF and 3rd place: 250CHF). The award ceremony is part of the social evening (February 9, 2017 at approximately 21:00).
